I personally (and professionally) have no intention of gathering any specific user information. If you post a question here, I'll gladly answer it, and I may even remember your handle in the future. That's about as far as it goes. I don't really care who you are or what you do on the 'net, I just care about helping you to understand object oriented programming a little better.
If I ever display ads here (and to be perfectly honest, I almost certainly will, I'd love to have another income stream to free me up to write more and better instructional blog posts) I'll do what I can to avoid offensive ones. That being said I do not currently know what kind of control I will have when that day comes.
Google seems to want me to say the following, so here goes:
- Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website.
- Google's use of the DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of the use of the DoubleClick cookie for interest-based advertising by visiting Ads Settings.(Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for interest based advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
As for how effective opting out is, I cannot really say.
And that's all I have to say about that. I'm no attorney, and I certainly didn't hire one for this.
